After touring through different European and non-European countries, Eurochoir made her debut in England, end of October.
The singers, coming from all over Europe, gathered in Sheringhams youth hostel, which was to be the base camp for the three concerts to be held. At arrival, England showed herself immediately from her ‘best’ side, with mist and rain…
But his could not cloud the anticipated joy of the 130 musicians. Already the next day the performed their first concert in Norwich, "Central Baptist Church". Especially appreciated by the choir members were the opportunities after the concerts to talk with the attendants. In doing so, they did not stick to the famous English ‘small talk’, but similarities were discovered, new friendships made and lasting connections were realised.
Also the concerts in Bury St-Edmonds, "West Road Church", and in Cromer, "Parish Church of St-Peter and St-Paul", were unforgettable, especially the last one, which was performed in one of the oldest English churches and where a fine acoustic was to be discovered. Wherever the Eurochoir travelled, they were warmly received and welcomed. Fortunately the concert trip left enough free time to get acquainted with country and local people. Often, the young people were found at the rocky cliffs along the sea of Englands coasts already early in the mornings.
The attendants enjoyed this visit of the continent. Some to the extend of announcing spontaneously to cross the Channel and join the choir for their yearly Christmas concerts. But they also encouraged the choir to come over again quickly, so that the debut in England was perhaps just what it literally means in French: a start.
